The customer is a leading Mobile Entertainment Services company, providing music entertainment services to telecommunication operators, media distribution companies & handset manufacturers in Europe. With increasing popularity of mobile phones on Symbian OS, the customer wanted to develop a proprietary Advanced Audio Coding (AAC+) player that runs on Symbian.

EximSoft-Trianz developed the AAC+ music player, designed for Series 60 phones that run on Symbian. The application is developed using the Symbian 6.1 Series 60 SDK and can be run on phones that are compatible with the SDK. The application enables users to select songs from the server and play it on their mobile phones. The player interfaces with a Download Manager, Decryptor and Decoder for playing the songs.

The Download Manager fetches the songs requested by the user from the server. The DRM decryptor is used for copy protection and the file is decrypted using a DRM key, which is downloaded to the handset. The decrypted songs are decoded by the decoder before it is sent to the music player. The application has been demonstrated on Nokia Series 60 and Siemens SX1 phones

The customer was able to reduce development costs by 40% by outsourcing to Eximsoft-Trianz.
